The growing footprint of the Greek defence industry within the European Defence Fund (EDF) is once again confirmed in the 2024 call for proposals, with particularly strong participation from member companies of the Hellenic Manufacturers of Defence Materiel Association (SEKPY).
According to official data, 11 Greek companies – all SEKPY members – along with 3 members of the DefencEduNet cluster, are participating in 16 research and development projects, underscoring the technological capabilities and outward-looking orientation of Greece’s defence industrial ecosystem. Notably, the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence is also involved in 2 of these projects, marking a significant point of reference.

Three Greek research and higher education institutions have successfully secured participation in EDF 2024 projects as members of DefencEduNet, the first Greek defence-oriented cluster jointly established by SEKPY, academia, and industrial actors:

Overall, the participation of Greek companies and institutions in EDF 2024 is a tangible demonstration of the maturity and momentum of the Greek defence industry. As the recognized institutional voice of the domestic sector, SEKPY continues to systematically support the industry’s international competitiveness, technological innovation, and integration into the European defence market—through initiatives such as dedicated Info Days and the newly established HelpDesk support platform, launched in collaboration with Ernst & Young.
